Doily wheat wheel
Doily wheat wheel
2022

This is a sketch made out of Rotini pasta, paper straws, wooden skewers and painted twine. It is a 1/20th size model for a piece I would like to realize for the WormFarm 2022 public art call in the driftless region of Wisconsin. It is based on early forms of "women's work" a doily pattern hand stitched to hold food. It is meant to be viewed from all sides, a sculpture. I endeavor to create a final work out of woven "straw" or local dried hay twine and plastic garden pots pop riveted together. If needed for support, I will use cardboard shipping tubes. The poles will be sourced locally as sticks, poles, or wood scraps.
